Here’s a little snippit of me in the Girl’s Show, the first of five shows I’m doing for the Boat Job… it was filmed during our first run-thru, so please, no judging…

I’m out of shape and out of breath, it’s amazing to me I even have this job…

Rehearsing eight hours a day, while hard, tiring and akin to exercise, is brilliant. It’s also something I can see myself doing all the time – and by ‘all the time’ I mean; I’m in rehearsal all the time because I’m jumping from job to job to job and I’ve got lots of shows to learn.

Of course, there are long blocks of time when I’m not ‘in rehearsal,’ because the show is on it’s feet and I’ll be performing – which, in just about 40 days, is will be what I’ll be doing.

That’s the life I’ve always wanted. To actually be living it right now is a gift.

Now, if I were in rehearsal for a brand-new Broadway show in which I’m originating a role created especially for me, it would be almost too much for me to handle.

My confidence is building and I’m remembering, ‘yes, I’m funny and brassy and loud but I can sing and dance with the best of ‘em!’ Even if I need a few more minutes of direction or coaching or someone to point out the obvious every now and then… my group of eight are a very talented cast of folks and I truly believe I fit right in.

The Girl’s Show

The first of the five shows I’m working on for the Boat Job is the sweet Girl’s show. It’s just three female singers and me. Me playing eight different characters. The milkman, the postman, the sound-man, the music show host etc., etc.

Fun!

Now, as an actor, , I understand the phrase, “actors get paid to wait…” and I sat around waited for 7 hours to say three lines while the girls were learning the choreography for their finale but, I almost feel guilty about it. Listen, I’ll gladly do nothing and get paid for it, but it still doesn’t seem right…
