The cardboard boxes are in the recycling bin, the padded envelopes are in storage in the basement, the bubble wrap is being used to wrap up precious breakables; and what does all that mean you wonder?

I’ve closed up shop.

My Half.com shop has been pulled down and I’m not putting anything else on eBay until I get back from my quarter-world cruise; the last thing I need to be dealing with is listing and tracking and packing and shipping anything while I’m getting ready to leave for a year. And since the plan was to sell everything off to pay down the dept and I’m going to be able to do that threefold with the money I earn singing – remember, I’m getting paid to sing… for a year – I figure, there is no great rush to complete the task.

I feel I was quite lucky, I still raised a good amount and got rid of a bunch of stuff I didn’t love anymore but instead of using it to continue paying off my debt, I’ve been using it to buy what I need for the trip; so in my slightly askew mind, I’m breaking even by NOT using my credit cards for any trip “necessities.”

It was good run. But I’m glad it’s over. I’ve forgotten how mush stress it causes me; and while seeing my PayPal account balance get higher and higher is nice, it still feels as if a little piece of leaves with every package I send out.

Today I decided, since the universe has been so good to me of late, I should be good back.

Today I decided, since the universe has been so good to me of late, I should be good back. I figure, what goes around comes around and I’ve had a lot come my way lately…

Instead of having a stoop sale as planned, I’ve been putting everything I was going to sell outside under a huge sign which reads “FREE! Please take what you want, but don’t make a mess…”

Also, since the apartment and cats are taken care of for the next year and I don’t need to rid myself of the fifteen years worth of accumulated crap and when I took a good, hard look at what I was going to sell, I figured, why put myself through the hassle of signing the neighborhood, posting on Facebook & Craig’s List and forcing my friends to shlep out at the ass-crack of dawn to help just to make a few bucks

Someone rang my bell after the second round of junk went out and offered me money for something but I refused to take it.

“The sign say ‘FREE.’” I pointed out, “take whatever you want!”
