It’s A Lazy Afternoon…

I’ve always been an advocate of napping, but since I’ve started working on The Boat, I’ve become a napping fool.

It’s really quite easy to sleep, with the constant rocking and the fact I have an inside cabin, which means no porthole (no window to you landlubbers). If I turn the lights off it’s midnight all day long…the exact opposite of my apartment in NJ where it was midday all night long due to the street lamp outside my window.

Of course there’s a downside; upon waking, I never know what time it is.

I’ve gone to Military Time so I can be certain of the time – it doesn’t help that Alaska has it’s own time zone and we’re moving an hour back and an hour forward each week, but, that’s neither here nor there, imagine if you will Jew and Gentile reader, that feeling of waking up after a nap and not knowing if it’s 11am or 11pm – and yes, I’ve woken up at 8 am to start my day and napped at 10, don’t judge – with Military Time I know if I glance at the clock and it’s 23:00, it’s 11 PM and I’ve slept the whole day away as if I’m Rip Van Winkle, not that I’ve done that…

My work schedule on these seven day cruises is really quite lovely:

  • Day One: Off
  • Day Two: Noon tech, 8pm and 10pm – The Broadway Show
  • Day Three: Noon tech, 8pm and 10pm – The Girls Show
  • Day Four: Off
  • Day Five: Noon tech, 8pm and 10pm – The Duets Show
  • Day Six: Off
  • Day Seven: 3pm Tech, 4pm – The Game Show

Which leaves a lot of time for takin’ care of business, not that I have a lot of business to take care of and with the shoddy internets it’s either the gym or the bed – usually both.

I could really get used to this!
