All the days are starting to run together… I can’t go on, I just can’t go on…
Seriously, giving up chocolate for Lent isn’t as much of a hardship as I imagined t’would be. I may up the self-depravation for the duration. So, not only chocolate (which includes anything made from or flavored with) for the rest of lent I’m giving up all baked sweets and anything in which the first ingredient is sugar.
I doubt Noah and his brood had options and available substitutions for what they were lacking, “Oh, I can’t have that candy bar I want, so I just have the white part of this Black and White cookie.” Said no one on the ark.
“I don’t have any chocolate, so I guess I just eat the vanilla ice cream.” Said Jesus, never, as he toiled in the desert.
Hm, I guess I should really look into, which biblical forty days, exactly, Lent is asking us to emulate…
like all sugar?
like maple and honey sugar too?
cause that stuff is yummy and = good iced coffee sweetener…(the maple more so than the honey)
@ Donna –
No, not all sweeteners, just most processed foods that contain sugars. It’s been two days now, and the cravings are subsiding, but I’d certainly call it a hardship…
well…as long as you don’t go crazy and start turning into one of those weird raw/vegan scary ppl that haunt the farmer’s markets…
that’ll NEVER happen.
